The Key To Winning Every Race

The following article is notes from the book, The Richest Man Who Ever Lived by Steven K. Scott

Diligence Is The Key To Success

Do you see a man diligent in his business?  He shall stand before kings.
Proverbs 22:29

If you can be diligent in what you do, you can be great.  You can have sustainable success and you can be a person that people search out for guidance and advice and someone who might get compensated favorably for your wisdom.  The problem is that we all have a desire or drive for instant gratification.  We want as much as we can get, as fast as we can get it, with as little effort as possible.  We are not wired to be truly diligent in what we do; we have to work at fine-tuning that skill.

What Is Diligence
Doing the best you can, on time, to the highest standards possible, regardless of what is demanded or expected.  It is a learn-able skill that is about finding and providing excellence in all everything that you do.

Steps Towards Becoming Diligent

Step 1 - Wake Up To Reality
Understand why you are not living up to your potential and why you haven’t become the best version of yourself.

How long will you lie there,” he asks.  “When will you get up from your sleep? … poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.
Proverbs 6:9-11

Step 2 – Define Your Visions
You must know where you want to go.

“Without a vision, the people will perish.”
Proverbs 28:19

Step 3 – Effectively Partner
Find people you can call on for advice and guidance and wisdom.

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 15:22

Step 4 – Pursue Wisdom; Build Your Life Upon ItThe knowledge is out there - how hard are you willing to work to obtain it?

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!  And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver
Proverbs 16:16
