How a High School Coach Changed Dwayne Johnson's Life | Oprah’s Master Class

We know Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson today as a real-life action figure who leads an incredibly inspirational life, but as a high school student, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson started getting into trouble. He was arrested for everything from fighting and stealing to forging checks, but Dwayne says he began to change his ways when he was 16 years old and he met the football coach.  Here is what he said he took away the most from that experience:
"The empathy that he had for a punk kid who treated him so rudely and disrespectfully.  He looked past the BS and said that I believe in you and I want to turn you around.  Often times you see kids who are labelled punk kids, its true.  But there's good in them and we have to see that potential.  Especially kids who are kind of wayward and are going through it."
We have and see those kids everyday.  But instead of seeing the punk on the outside, try finding the potential on the inside.  My mom always had a saying:
Every kid comes to school every day with a backpack.  And in that backpack their carry around with them all of their experiences.  Some of those backpacks are filled with love, and a happy home, and great parents.  But, many of those backpacks are filled with hurt, anger, rage, anxiety and disappointment.
When are kids are being 'punks,' help them by seeing their potential on the inside, give them love and hope, and maybe you can start to take some of those negatives out of their backpacks and start to fill it with the good stuff!

  1. The Rock has numerous movies heading to theaters in the near future. Beyond that, he has attached his name to various projects, all of which sound like they will keep the one-time wrestler and current big-screen phenom in the blockbuster business for years. Because we know that you love The Rock as much as we love The Rock, we've documented the actor's next films.
