The Shop With LeBron James, Draymond Green, and others

LeBron James, Draymond Green, 2 Chainz and special guests come together at a local New Orleans barbershop to talk the NBA, Olympics, music, football and more.   They hit on many topics, including what its like to play in a classic game 7, playing for Coach K in the Olympics, ‘the process,’ LeBron’s decision to come back to Cleveland, and guys in the NBA who don’t know their roles and DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY!

45 – You don’t know that you’re in THE MOMENT while playing.  You don’t know in the moment, that this game 7 is about to be one of the best game 7’s ever.  You don’t know that this block is about to happen, or that Kyrie is about to his this big shot.  You are just playing moment to moment, focused on making the next play or getting the next stop.

20 – You’re tired, but that’s the last thing you are telling yourself.

40 – Coach K makes your really understand and appreciate what representing your country is about.  He doesn’t even talk about basketball that much.  He just talks about the commitment; being there for your brother, and fighting for your brother.  Having a common purpose that’s bigger than basketball.

19 – Some people love the process, and everybody else just wants the outcome.  If you just listen to people talk, its very clear to tell who loves it and who doesn’t.

25 – Having belief in yourself and what you do.  You can lose belief in yourself, no matter what is going on in your life or in the game.  We are all here for a reason, and if there’s a possibility, there’s a way.

00 – Its hard to judge a player sometimes, because they might be in a position in which doesn’t allow them to flourish in a way that they could if in the right situation.

25 – Nothing on resumes talks about a person’s work ethic.  Everybody gets credit for stuff that they didn’t do when you are part of a team.  We all do; its part of being a part of a team.  But what role did you play in driving the outcome vs. being a teammate of the outcome.  Great coaches, great CEOs, great managers have to decide: Is it the guy or is the environment that the guy was in?  Are you the driver or just along for the ride.

07 – A lot of guys are running around and have no ideas what their roles are.  They don’t even know where to shoot.  They don’t know their roles.

30 – A lot of coaches don’t want to coach.

45 - Charles Oakley - in training camp, you have to set their roles and you have to set the locker room, right away.

10 LBJ – Players have to be held accountable.

52 – Dray – There are a lot of players in the NBA, that don’t know how to play the game of basketball.  They then add, that not only do players not know their roles, and there are guys who don’t even really know how to play!

40 – Being a smart player is just doing what you can do, and not doing what you can’t do.  Educate players early on what they need to do.  Know what you don’t know, and do what you know!  This is what we do, we are going to do it at a high level, and I’m going to do it better than you, at what I do!

38 – Basketball players that don’t watch basketball games.   NBA players don’t know what a flex cut is!  And, it all comes around to coaching.

00 – Talking about rappers who don’t know how to rap or who don’t know the rap business.

45 – What it feels like when somebody disses you as a rapper.  Certain things trigger you which is why its sometimes important to remove yourself from certain platforms, like social media.

20 – Progress over Pride.  Lets not worry about the small stuff.  Lets worry about trying to build something that is greater than our name.

-->
12 – The only thing that marks greatness is consistency over a long period of time.
