5.13 Novak Djokovic: Fight Negativity
“It’s easy to be negative. Anyone can do it..” - Novak Djokovic
Would the people around you say you are more negative or positive?
Tennis star Novak Djokovic once said, “It’s easy to be negative. Anyone can do it.”
There are so many negative people who have negative reactions to that, leading and responding with positivity is a game changer and difference maker.
Think about it: If something bad happens and you have a negative reaction, will that help you or hurt you? Now, think about that same situation; if you had a positive reaction, will that help you or hurt you?
Djokovic took mental strength changing very seriously, and said it made a huge impact on his confidence. He also said your recovery after mistakes is more important than staying present because it is almost impossible to stay in the present.
When he was asked, “What is the most importantly thing athletes can do to take care of their mental health?” he said practice Conscious breathing and knowing who you are and how you respond emotionally.
One of my favorite breathing methods that helps me have a positive mindset is breathing in for four seconds, holding my breath for two, then breathing out while saying something positive, like love, joy, or peace. Doing this three, five, or ten times helps calm me and put me in a more positive mood.
I also work on knowing what triggers me and what resets me so I can better manage my emotions.
Being positive through the ups and downs is not easy and takes a lot of time and practice, but it’s worth it.
Question of the Day: How do you fight negativity?
