5.9 Weston Jameson: Fighting Doubt with Love

“Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we might oft win, by fearing to attempt.” - William Shakespeare

What could you be if you beat all the doubts holding you back?

The most important battle we fight is with our thoughts. Our thoughts control our actions, so don’t let your own self-doubt and fears prevent you from achieving the good things that are well within your reach.

Famous playwright and poet William Shakespeare once said, “Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we might oft win, by fearing to attempt.”

A traitor is someone who turns on you and betrays you from within, so don’t let your thoughts be an internal enemy that sabotages you and your plans and keep you from trying or doing something; don’t let them work against you and what’s best for you.

When we are consumed with uncertainty, doubt, and fear, we might miss out on great opportunities because they might paralyze us and keep us from even trying.

How do we fight against this? Love.

College basketball coach Weston Jameson once told me, “Love what you do, love getting better at it, and love who you are doing it with.” Love is stronger than any fear.

When you feel doubt, remember how much you love doing it. When you are afraid of failing, remember how much you love practicing and performing. Love the challenges and struggles that make you stronger, love the negative people that make you stronger, and love the fear that makes you more courageous.

Find something you love, and fall in love with getting better at it.

Question of the Day: When do you feel the most doubt, and how can you leverage love to overcome it?
